Services for Youssef "Joe" Ibrahim Rustom will be held at 11:00AM Thursday July 16, 2015 with visitation beginning 9:30 AM at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS.
Youssef "Joe" Ibrahim Rustom 93 passed away peacefully at Greenwood Leflore Hospital on Monday July 13, 2015.
Mr. Rustom was born in Damascus, Syria in 1921. He was a loving husband and father who worked diligently to support his family during the good and bad years. In 1968, he immigrated to the United States in order to find a better life for his family. He came to Jackson where he operated a small family business. In 1976 he moved to Greenwood where he opened the Super Soul Shop, which is still a family owned business today. He had strong Christian beliefs, which allowed him to adjust to transitions in order to support his family. He was a member of the Greenwood Lions Club and the Elks Lodge. He loved hunting, fishing, and being in the outdoors, in addition to going to the casino. He is preceded in death by his parents Ibrahim and Catherine Rustom, one grandchild, Bassam Khalaf, a son in law, Ellis Rantisi, and three sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years Nada Rustom, daughters Kitty Khalaf and her husband Joe of Ridgeland, MS, Lamia Dabit and her husband Sam of Jackson, MS, Hilda Rustom of Greenwood, MS, Ellen Daho and her husband George of Hattiesburg, MS, Mary Rantisi of Vicksburg, MS, Amal Rustom of Germantown, TN, and sons Abraham Rustom and his wife Rima of Greenwood, MS, and Sam Rustom and his wife Kim of Greenwood, MS. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Father Paul Yerger of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Clinton, MS will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Joseph Rustom, Sam Rustom Jr., John Daho, Randy Khalaf, David Rustom, and Sam Dabit Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Khalaf, Sam Dabit, George Daho, Abdo Rustom, and Bobby Blansett.
